Itinerary
Important: U.S. citizens require a Passport valid for six (6) months beyond period of intended stay, and a return ticket. A Visa is not required for U.S. citizens. Passengers with passports other than USA must check with the consulate for required documentation.
- Day 1 - U.S./Israel: Depart the U.S. for Israel.
- Day 2 - Tel Aviv, Israel: Upon arrival at Israel's Ben Gurion Airport, proceed to baggage claim and after clearing customs, you will be met by your Tour Host and transferred to your hotel. Tel Aviv is home to about a third of the country's population and a large center for business and commerce. Located on the shores of the Mediterranean, Tel Aviv is also a major center for Israeli's culture and entertainment, boasting of architectural wonders, numerous museums and a lively nightlife. Dinner is on your own.
- Day 3 - Tel Aviv: Begin the day with a guided orientation tour of Tel Aviv and Jaffa. Drive to Old Jaffa to view the ancient port and wander the alleyways and little streets throughout the restored area. If you're an antique hunter, this is one of the places to visit. Drive via Rothschild Boulevard to Dizengoff Street. Visit the Diaspora Museum on the campus of Tel Aviv University, which documents the dispersal of the Jews around the world since the destruction of the Second Temple. If time permits, visit the Oppenheimer Museum of Diamond History. All meals are on your own, except a full Israeli breakfast each morning at your hotel. (Breakfast)
- Days 4 - Tel Aviv: Enjoy today at leisure in Tel Aviv. Your tour director will provide details upon arrival on optional tours available to Caesarea, Haifa, Carmel and Akko. You can also take time to visit the extensive collections at the Tel Aviv Museum of Art. (Breakfast)
- Day 5 - Tel Aviv/Tiberias: After breakfast travel to Tiberias. Along the way see the lush valley of Jezre'el, the crossroads of the north, which in antiquity as well as today, linked the regions of Egypt and Mesopotamia. This is one of the most fertile areas of Israel. During the drive stop to enjoy a scenic view of the Sea of Galilee (about 688 feet, below sea level) as well as the River Jordan where Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist. Transfer to your hotel in Tiberias. The afternoon is free to explore on your own or take an optional Galilee Boat ride to Capernaum and Tabgha. You can sail across the Sea of Galilee and continue by bus to Capernaum, the "Town of Jesus", and visit its ancient synagogue. (Breakfast)
- Day 6 - Tiberias: Enjoy the day at leisure exploring on your own, or take an optional tour to Upper Galilee. On this optional tour, begin the day with a view from the Mount of Beatitudes, site of the Sermon on the Mount. Continue to Safed, Holy City of Kabala Mysticism. Drive via the "Bridge of the Daughters of Jacob", across the Jordan River to Golan Heights. Visit the former Syrian fortifications at Mitzpeh Gadot. From the foot of Mount Avital, an extinct volcano, look across the border into Syria to the city of Quneitra, former headquarters of the Syrian army on the Golan. Continue to Banias, source of the River Jordan where Archeologists are uncovering a great temple to the God Pan. (Breakfast)
- Day 7 - Tiberias/Jerusalem: After breakfast depart for Jerusalem. En route to Jerusalem, pass the Jordan Valley, Jericho, Mount of Temptation and the Judean Desert. In Jerusalem, view the city from Mount Scopus, northern peak of the Mount of Olives ridge and drive through its colorful neighborhoods. Visit to the Western Wailing Wall. (Breakfast)
- Day 8 - Jerusalem: Day at leisure to relax and explore on your own. You can also select an optional tour to the new city of Jerusalem. On this optional tour, you drive to the Hadassah Hospital and Medical Center to visit the Synagogue and its magnificent Chagall windows. Travel on to Yad Vashem Memorial to the bitterest pages of Jewish history, the Holocaust. Visit the Israel Museum, a treasure house of Jewish and Israel culture, to see the Dead Sea Scrolls, the oldest Biblical manuscript in the world. (Breakfast)
- Day 9 - Jerusalem: Enjoy the day exploring on your own or on an optional tour to the Old City and Bethlehem. On this full day optional tour, join in on the joyous Bar Mitzvah celebrations at the Western Wall. View the Temple Mount and the magnificent Dome of the Rock, holy to Muslims. Walk the Via Dolorosa to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. See King David's Tombs and the Upper Room on Mount Zion. Explore the fascinating archeological discoveries from the last twenty years, including the Cardo, the main street of Roman Jerusalem. A short drive will take you to Bethlehem to visit the Church of the Nativity where Jesus was born, and a visit to Rachel's Tomb. (Breakfast)
- Day 10 - Jerusalem: An optional tour to Massada and the Dead Sea is available to guests today. Depart early down the slopes of the Judean Desert to the Dead Sea, 1,300 feet below sea level, the lowest place on the face of the earth. Visit Qumran where the famous Dead Sea Scrolls were found in 1947. Then continue to Massada, King Herod's incredible rock fortress, the last stronghold of the Jewish Zealots who fought Rome. Return to Jerusalem in the evening. (Breakfast)
- Day 11 - Jerusalem: Day at leisure. Enjoy your last day in Jerusalem with a stroll around Nahalat Shiva, a shopping area in West Jerusalem with a wide variety of shops and restaurants in renovated 1900's buildings. You can also explore the comprehensive collection at the Museum of Islamic Arts or visit the Tower of David, located in restored ancient citadel first constructed by Herod the Great, which traces Jerusalem's rich history. Check out of the hotel late this evening and transfer to Ben Gurion Airport for your early morning flight to the U.S. (Breakfast)
- Day 12 - Jerusalem/U.S.: En route to U.S.
