Itinerary
Important: A Valid Passport and Visa are required to enter China. The Visa must be obtained before arrival in China, and your passport must be valid for at least six (6) months beyond return date with at least one (1) blank visa page.

- Day 1 - Depart the U.S. for China.
- Day 2 - Shanghai: Upon arrival, proceed to baggage claim and after clearing customs you will be met by the Club ABC Tours National Guide and transferred to your hotel to begin your exploration of China. Shanghai is China's largest city and former "Paris of the East". The Golden Route highlights several of the world's ancient and archeological wonders that are considered must-see sites for every world traveler.
- Day 3 - Shanghai: After breakfast, enjoy a full day guided tour, which includes visits to beautiful Yu Yuan Garden with its many halls and pavilions and the Old City. You'll also make a delightful visit to the Children's Palace where children come after school to learn traditional Chinese arts. See the Jade Buddha Temple, famous for its image of Buddha in white Burmese jade. Enjoy a guided sightseeing tour featuring Shanghai's famous waterfront "Bund" area to see the many stately buildings of European Architecture from pre-1949 times.Later enjoy a special Chinese dinner. Top off the evening with an unforgettable performance of the spectacular Shanghai Acrobatic Show. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
- Day 4 - Shanghai/Beijing: After breakfast, take a morning flight north to Beijing, the capital city of China. Beijing is China's sprawling cultural and political center, as well as home to many fascinating sites. Few other Chinese cities offer such a concentrated view of ancient and modern China. Your guide will meet you at the airport to transfer to your hotel. In the afternoon, tour a masterpiece of Ming architecture, the "Tiantan", or Temple of Heaven, built for imperial sacrifices conducted on the summer and winter solstices, and one of Beijing's grandest attractions. Dinner is on your own. (Breakfast, Lunch)
- Day 5 - Beijing: Today your guide will take you on a full day tour of Beijing. Tour the incomparable Forbidden City, home to two dynasties spanning 500 years. This architecturally stunning 200-acre compound, with more than 800 buildings and 9,000 rooms, houses a vast collection of imperial treasures and cultural artifacts. Visit the Summer Palace, home to China's largest imperial garden. You'll also visit Tian'anmen Square, the world's largest public square, and site of Mao Zedong's Mausoleum and the Great Hall of the People. Dinner is on your own tonight. (Breakfast, Lunch)
- Day 6 - Beijing: After a buffet breakfast at the hotel, explore more Beijing sites with your guide. No visit would be complete without an excursion to see the Great Wall, truly one of the greatest feats of human engineering, stretching nearly 4,000 miles long. Begun in the 7th century B.C., final additions were completed in 16th century A.D. and originally built to keep out invaders of the north. Lunch is included during the tour of the Great Wall. You'll also see "Mingshisan Ling" or Ming Tombs, a final resting place for thirteen Emperors of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644A.D.). Built into Beijing's scenic foothills, splendidly carved stone animals dramatically line the road on your approach. Tonight experience an authentic Beijing treat. Enjoy a traditional Peking Duck Dinner followed by a Peking Opera Show. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
- Day 7 - Beijing/Xi'an: Spend this morning shopping along the famed Silk Alley. After lunch, transfer to the airport for your flight to Xi'an, which was an ancient capital of China for eleven dynasties and the starting point of the famed Silk Road. The cradle of Chinese civilization and inhabited since before the Neolithic era, Xi'an lies 35 miles west of the confluence of the Wei and Yellow rivers. Transfer to your hotel. Dinner tonight is on your own. (Breakfast, Lunch)
- Day 8 - Xi'an: Today embark on a full day tour of the Provincial Museum displaying more than 2,000 ancient artifacts reflecting the evolution of Chinese civilization and the Ancient City Walls. Visit the amazing underground tomb of Emperor Qin Shi Huang; guarded by more than 7,000 life-size Terra Cotta warriors and horses, the tomb is one of the world's greatest archaeological treasures. Later in the evening, enjoy a memorable Tang Dynasty Dinner and Show. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
- Day 9 - Xi'an/Guilin: Take a morning flight from Xi'an to Guilin, world-famous for its serene and beautiful Karst mountain landscape. Transfer to your hotel. In the afternoon, enjoy a guided exploration of the Reed Flute Caves, an underground wonder featuring fantastic stalactite and stalagmite formations that are artfully illuminated by beautiful multicolored lights. (Breakfast, Lunch)
- Day 10 - Guilin: Today enjoy a full day Li River Cruise after breakfast at your hotel. The fabled Li River threads its way through stunning mountains and limestone karst hills. Sail down streams and through lush green valleys, bamboo groves, and hundreds of rock formations. Along the way, you'll see daily life unfolding along the riverbanks and perhaps catch sight of local fishermen using cormorant birds to catch fish. Tonight, feast on a special dinner at your hotel. - Day 11 - Guilin/Guangzhou/Hong Kong: After breakfast transfer to the airport for your short flight to Guangzhou. Upon arriving in scenic Guangzhou, enjoy sightseeing of Family Chen's Temple and Six Banyan Tree Temple, a city landmark with its 184-foot pagoda. Take an afternoon ferry to Hong Kong. This former British colony is currently a Special Administrative Region (SAR) of China and will officially rejoin China in 2047. Hong Kong is an exciting fusion of Chinese culture, global business, natural beauty and engaging people. Transfer to your hotel. During your stay, you'll have plenty of time to explore the city, ride the Star Ferry across the harbor and take the tramway to the top of Victoria Peak for the most dazzling view of Hong Kong. Visit spectacular museums, find divine inspiration at a Buddhist temple, experience the bustle of a Hong Kong open market and feast at one of the nearly 10,000 Hong Kong restaurants, which offers a variety of authentic Chinese cuisine - Peking, Cantonese, Shanghai, Szechuan and Chui Chow - as well as an array of international cuisines. - Day 12 - Hong Kong: After breakfast, enjoy a guided tour of Victoria Peak, with its breathtaking panoramic views of the city and harbor, Repulse Bay, Aberdeen Fishing Village; and Stanley Market for shopping bargains galore. The afternoon is free to explore on your own. Your Club ABC Tours representative can arrange a variety of optional tours to enhance your visit. Tour the islands of Macau, a 16th century Portuguese spice trading post, or take an optional tour around the New Territories for a different, more rural side of Hong Kong. (Breakfast)
- Day 13 - Hong Kong: The full day is at your leisure. Don't forget that Hong Kong is a shopper's paradise, filled with open-air markets and sophisticated shops selling everything from Chinese antiques and porcelain to electronics and jewelry. You might enjoy an optional Cocktail Cruise with Seafood dinner at Lei Yeu Mun; sailing on a traditional Chinese sightseeing junk for exciting night views of Hong Kong's famous harbor and a delicious Chinese dinner. Or you can explore Hong Kong's many restaurants on your own. (Breakfast)
- Day 14 - Hong Kong/U.S.: After breakfast transfer to the airport for your flight home. Cross the International Dateline and regain the day you lost at the start of your trip. (Breakfast)
NOTE: Inter-China flights have weight restrictions of 20 kilos or 44lbs. The airline will impose a surcharge for exceeding this weight limit.
