Itinerary
- Day 1 - Depart from the U.S. for the Canary Islands.
- Day 2 - Canary Islands, Spain: Upon arrival in Tenerife, proceed to baggage claim and after clearing customs, you will be met by your Club ABC Tours representative. The Canary Islands are an archipelago of seven volcanic islands off the coast of Africa in the Atlantic Ocean, and part of Spain. The islands enjoy a year-round, spring-like weather, with average winter temperatures of 65°F and summer temperatures of 75° F. Part of the Western Canaries, Tenerife is surrounded by dramatic and contrasting landscape where more than one third of the land is under protection to preserve its natural beauty. Here you'll find a relaxing combination of sun and sand with a rich culture, magnificent landscapes, lively nightlife and casinos, family theme parks, and a range of sports from golf and trekking, to windsurfing and sailing. The Canary Islands are also rich in naval lore. They were often the stopover for explorers and later for wealthy Europeans traveling by steamship to South America.
- Days 3 - 7 - Tenerife: Spend the next five days at leisure, relaxing and exploring the island. Your resort is located in the south of Tenerife, with long sandy beaches with calm waters, suitable for the whole family. Whether you choose to bask in the sun everyday, explore some of the islands' interesting cultural sites and natural wonders, or experience lively water sports, you'll find plenty to do. The Canary archipelago not only has a subtropical climate and a volcanic landscape, but also excellent conditions for water sports. The island's continuous trade winds offer great sailing and windsurfing. The rocky coastline boasts a wealth of marine life. Nature lovers can explore trails and parks throughout the island. One of Tenerife's highlights is a visit to El Teide. Founded in 1954 to protect the volcano and its endemic flora and animal species, the Teide National Park is the biggest and oldest of the Canary Islands' parks*. At nearly 12,200 feet, El Teide is the biggest volcano and highest point in Spain; its last eruption took place in 1798.
Explore more of Tenerife on your own or with other optional tours including an Island Tour that offers a global view of the island. Visit scenic locales including the northwestern cliffs of Los Gigantes, the spectacular view of Garachico, Icod de los Vinos and the famous Drago-tree, and Puerto de la Cruz.
The Canaries offer a variety of cuisines, from Mediterranean to Scandinavian. The local food is simple, with tasty island stews and fresh seafood often served with mojos, piquant sauces. Try papas arrugadas, small potatoes cooked in their skins in very salty water and served with a mojo verde or mojo rojo. Fresh tropical fruits abound here, in addition to small bananas, enjoy melon pear and pineapple. Local wines and liquors are worth tasting. (Breakfast)
