- Day 1 - U.S./Lima: Depart the U.S. for Lima, Peru. Upon arrival in Peru's capital city of Lima collect your baggage and after exiting the customs area, you will be met by your Tour Escort and transferred to your hotel. This evening start your culinary discovery with dinner at Juan Antonio, featuring contemporary cuisine. Return to your hotel for overnight. (Dinner)
- Day 2 - Lima, Peru: This morning begin your exploration of Peru by visiting Lima's colonial landmarks, including Casa-Solar de Aliaga, America's best preserved colonial mansion, occupied by the same family since 1535. As you drive to the Convento de los Descalzos, built in 1592, you pass through the historic district of Rimac, where you'll see the Paseo de Aguas and Alameda de los Descalzos, two of the most beautiful Colonial constructions in Peru. Finally see the San Fransisco Monastery, an architectural masterpiece. Enjoy lunch at a restaurant renowned for its fresh seafood specialties. The afternoon is at leisure to explore the city on your own. Tonight enjoy a dinner at Astrid y Gaston Restaurant, considered the finest restaurant in all of Lima, set in an elegant house with its renowned culinary new dishes. Return to your hotel for overnight. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
- Day 3 - Lima/Cusco: After breakfast at your hotel, transfer to the airport for flight to Cusco, once the capital of the Inca Empire, nearly 11,000 feet above sea level in the southeastern Andes. Upon arrival, transfer to the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Drive through the valley to Ollantaytambo, admire the magnificence of the Inca fortress. Enjoy a private lunch at Wayra ranch, hosted by the owners, who will prepare for you family recipes with homegrown produce. In the afternoon, visit Pisac for an opportunity to bargain with vendors at its typical market. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
- Day 4 - Cuzco/Machu Picchu/Cusco: Early this morning, transfer to the train station to board your Machu Picchu bound train for a spectacular journey through a changing landscape. Train times: depart for Machu Picchu - 7:05 AM, arrive at 8:27 AM; Return to Cusco - depart at 4:22PM, arrive at 6:00PM. Arrive at the famous ruins of Machu Picchu, "The Lost City of the Incas", re-discovered in 1911 by Hiram Bingham. The high-altitude ruins of Machu Picchu represent one of the most beautiful and enigmatic ancient sites in the world. It is believed this Fortress was dedicated sometime in the 15th century to the many deities of the Inca pantheon. This 100-acre UNESCO World Heritage site's complex features temples, giant walls, terraces and ramps that seem as if they have been cut naturally in the continuous rock escarpments. Invisible from below and fed by hidden springs, many believe the site served as a major astronomical observatory. For many, this journey is an once-in-a-lifetime experience that inspires long after you depart. Enjoy a buffet lunch at Machu Picchu Sanctuary Lodge. Later this afternoon, take the train back to Cusco. (Breakfast, Lunch)
- Day 5 - Cusco: In the morning, explore this most magical city, former capital of the Inca Empire. Start out at the Santo Domingo convent monastery. This former Colonial monastery was previously the Koricancha temple, one of the most important temples devoted to worship of the sun. According to the chronicles, it was covered in gold Leaf and filled with golden representations of nature. Also included in the tour are stops at the Plaza de Armas and the Cathedral. After touring the most interesting sites of the city, you will be driven to the countryside outside Cusco to visit some of the remarkable Inca ruins in the area. Included are the cult centre of Sacsayhuaman, the temple and amphitheatre of Kenko, and the Red Fortress of Puca Pucara. Enjoy lunch at Map Cafe restaurant, specialized in Nouveau-Andean, creole and international cuisine. The afternoon is free to relax or explore on your own. Dinner is scheduled at the Monasterio hotel. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
- Day 6 - Cusco/Lima: Transfer to Cusco airport for flight to Lima. Drive to the Pueblo Libre district, to visit the Larco Herrera Museum, housed in an 18th century colonial mansion that holds the most extensive collection of pre-Columbian art in Peru. It contains fine examples of textile work, one of which has a world record-breaking 398 threads per inch, as well as the tools ancient Peruvians used to produce textiles, metals, huaco ceramics and gold and silver pieces with semiprecious stones.
Based on the concept that a restaurant is "the art of juggling concepts in order to dazzle the spectator" Pedro Miguel Schiaffino created a restaurant which offers a "very personal" contemporary flavor that blends the Peruvian roots of our chef, with the influence of his Cuban grandmother and his four years experience in Italy; the result in a very enjoyable and distinct Peruvian cuisine. Malabar is decorated in a modern style and contains one of the most extraordinary lists of Piscos and widest selection of wines in Peru. The afternoon is on your own. Tonight, your culinary tour of Peru ends at the Wa Lok is one of the best and well-known Chifas (local slang for Chinese restaurants). Hot or cold drinks accompany its colorful oriental dishes. The dining area is spacious and distinctly Chinese Tourists frequently flock here for the combination Chinese-Peruvian cuisine. A delicious Dim Sum and a traditional noodle can be enjoyed here. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
- Day 7 - Lima/U.S.: Transfer from hotel to airport for return departure flight home. (Breakfast)
- Day 8 - Arrive home in the early afternoon.
