""Discover Turkey" is one of the most wonderful trips club ABC offers, and one of the best among my over 20 trips with ABC Tours. Putting aside my luck in having a wonderful travel companion, I would still call this an amazingly fantastic trip and an incredible bargain.
When one considers that there are 11 of13 dinners included, many personalized guided tours included , and all 4/5 star hotels with views of the Aegean and Mediterranean Seas as well as daily buffet breakfasts. It is a great deal. The trip also provided a good change of pace with long day tours of historic sites interspersed with more relaxing days in the hotels. The different and varied sights made it excitingly different every day: boat cruises, bazaar markets, camel caravan stops, ancient theatres, calcium hills with thermal pools, fair chimneys in Cappadocia, mosques, World War I battlefields, Attaturk's monuments, underground cities, churches built in rock formations, thermal mud baths, etc. One never knew what to expect!
Our tourguide, Altay, was exceptional. He was knowledgeable, considerate, funny and organized. He ranks as one of the best, if not the best, tour guide on any tour I have ever taken. He was a passionate nationalist, but also open-minded. It was also great having an assistant driver, as a backup driver and as someone to help with luggage and passenger needs on the bus.
The country of Turkey itself is modern, clean, safe, varied in topography and climate and has warm, friendly, honest citizens, many of whom speak some English. The optional tours were excellent: a great variety show with dinner, an excellent cruise of the Mediterranean with a museum guided tours, a night watch the whirling dervishes, an an unforgettable balloon ride over Cappadocia, for those brave enought to enjoy the adventure above the fairy chimney house landscape.!
Finally, despite my love of your Egypt Delux Tour, which was awe inspiring and magical, I have to say, overall, this is the best trip ABC offers and should be enjoyed by every one of your members before Turkey gets overrun with tour groups and becomes crowded and touristy. The only suggestion would be to add one more day to Istanbul to be able to explore that amazing, vibrant city on your own. "
